A Garden and a Backyard Habitat

Backyard Habitat Landscaping

One of our clients in Lake Oswego, OR just had their property designated a "Backyard Habitat". The certification acknowledges the efforts made by a homeowner to make their landscape friendly to native plants and animals.

This particular landscape was designed by Sadafumi Uchiyama and was installed by our landscaping crews. We also perform chemical free maintenance on the property. The landscape utilizes numerous native plants, filters runoff water, and uses as little irrigation water as possible. The garden is beautiful and intelligent!

The Backyard Habitat Program

From the Audobon's website:

The Backyard Habitat Certification Program provides assistance and incentives to residents on lots less than one acre, within the cities of Portland and Lake Oswego, to restore native wildlife habitat in their backyards. There are four program elements: removal of aggressive weeds, naturescaping with native plants, stormwater management and wildlife stewardship.

We are thrilled to have contributed to this landscape that has been certified as a Platinum habitat by this program. Check out some pictures from a recent visit:
